Who the database vendors are

Based on accepted trade publications, there is a group of vendors that are considered the "Big Six" in SQL databases. These are, in order of appearance in a recent buyer's guide[32]: Oracle, Sybase SQL Server, Informix-On-line, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, and Computer Associates' CA-OpenIngres. This survey makes an attempt to look at each of these database systems with a view to their current and future Unicode implementations.

While doing the study, it was found that there were other capable database systems that already had a degree of Unicode support. Hence, these are included as well. They are ADABAS D, NCR Teradata, Sybase SQL Anywhere, and Borland's Interbase

Note that in this survey, "last" does not necessarily mean "least".
