This Unicode Database Survey asks the following questions of each vendor. Only those who have, or are willing to give information are included in the results of the study. The first question is, do they even have a Unicode Implementation? Then questions are asked about backward compatibility, physical database characteristics; string functions such as case-folding, collations, and substring; how the Database Internals handle Unicode, how are character conversions handled, how is Client/Server communication handled with respect to Unicode, and if there are any Unicode administration tools. Finally, future plans are discussed.
